O miolo dos livros está impecável, sem sublinhados, notas ou assinaturas de posse.

O papel é de alta qualidade.

As sobrecapas (que são de papel não plastificado) têm sinais de uso, sobretudo sujidade, e lombadas queimadas pelo sol.

A capa do comentário ao Purgatório (foto 2 deste anúncio) tem 2 rasgões em cima, um no topo, por cima do bloco cinzento, junto à lombada, e um maior na junção lombada/capa.

A capa do comentário ao Paraíso tem um pequeno rasgão, em baixo.

Nas contracapas, porém:
- comentário do Inferno: um pequeno rasgão em baixo, junto à lombada, e um outro em cima, a meio do topo da capa;

- texto do Paraíso: um rasgão grande, que vai da lombada quase até ao outro extremo (9 cm de profundidade / 1 cm de largura junto à lombada que vai decrescendo à medida que se alonga);

- comentário ao Paraíso: dois pequenos rasgões, também em baixo, mas neste, por estar rasgado em 2 lados (2 cm de distância entre cada) o papel está dobrado/engelhado, mas apenas com cerca de 4mm de profundidade num lado e 2mm no outro)

As lombadas dos comentários do Purgatório e Paraíso têm também um par de manchas causadas por gotas de água (foto 3 deste anúncio), mas nada de grave, não danificaram o papel

Charles Southward Singleton (1909–1985) was an American scholar, writer, and critic of literature.

He was an expert on the work of Dante Alighieri and Giovanni Boccaccio.

He wrote An Essay on the Vita Nuova (1949) and Dante Studies (I vol. in 1954).

He studied, as did the German critic Erich Auerbach, the allegorical interpretation of Dante's Divine Comedy, a work which he also translated into English in six volumes. (esta edição).
